Solid Hardwood Timber Flooring in Melbourne

Tongue and Groove Hardwood Timber Flooring in Melbourne

Tongue and groove refers to the traditional method in which solid timber boards are laid in an interlocked fashion. This type of flooring is available in 19mm thick strips with varying widths, including 60mm, 80mm and 130mm, and random lengths between 900mm to 5400mm.

Depending on your preference, we use one of two nailing techniques. The first and traditional way is 'top nail' where nail heads are visible in the flooring. The second and modern way is the 'secret nail' technique where nails are invisible, leaving you with a stylish and unblemished finish.

Floating timber floor

Floating timber floors aren't nailed down like conventional floorboards.
Floating floors are laid over an existing timber floor, concrete, tiles, particle board, plywood, etc. An underlay is placed underneath the floor to provide good noise insulation. This makes them ideal for use in multi-storey apartment buildings and homes.

Floating floors can be either timber or laminate. The timber floors consist of a layer of hardwood that has been glued to a high density fibreboard/s. They are manufactured pre-coated or can be coated upon installation. The advantage of using a real timber floating floor is that it can be sanded and refinished if necessary. Laminate floating floors use laminate to create a timber finish effect. Laminate floors are lower maintenance than real timber floating floors.

Parquetry timber flooring

Parquetry is a number of precision milled wood pieces laid to produce stunning patterns and elegant geometric designs. There are many patterns to choose from or you can use your own imagination to create your own custom design. Parquetry comes in two different styles: Mosaic and Block parquetry.

The traditional mosaic style of parquetry is where small individual fingers of timber are arranged in different designs and comes in the form of small panels. Block parquetry is created by using bigger blocks of timber and can be laid in any pattern using contrasting or similar blocks.

Parquetry is glued down over a solid, flat sub-floor such as concrete, plywood, or particleboard or over old timber floors. It is extremely durable, easy to maintain and can be restored to as new condition be re-sanding and finishing. Installation of your parquetry of choice can be performed by our master craftsmen.
